hey logan from colab here and in normal times you want to rank higher in local search results i mean people who are searching on google and geographically close to your business well with covet this desire is probably much higher than usual right and you may also want to rank when people are searching directly for your competitors names in google well that's what i'm going to show you how to do today and what kind of results you can get from that again i'm logan from collab and let's learn how to rank higher in local search results and competitor searches together [Music] so first up is how to rank higher in local search results something we've been doing for about a year or so here at collab is building city pages now this isn't like target or walmart having hundreds of pages one for each store this is a local strategy for small businesses the key for local small businesses with maybe just one or two or a couple of locations is to build 10 or less of these city pages so you don't annoy google or make them think that you're spamming
So let's take a look at an example here this is one of our clients a moving...

so let's take a look at an example here this is one of our clients a moving company we've taken their website converted it into wordpress and added city pages for their concentration areas which you can see here they already rank well in saint cloud and wait park the main cities in the area from previous work that we've done so they're focusing on surrounding cities places their competitors are based in and other regional areas they serve we add in specific maps on the city pages including a local google my business map if they have them specific copy for that city and surrounding area local reviews specific photo galleries of work they've done in that area basically as much local information as we can get we're seeing results like the following in our focus areas comparing total users from each city from september to november of 2020 versus the same period in 2019 in sartell they're up 188 little falls 163 percent south rapids 80 percent

up st joseph 167 percent up and at wilmer and alexandria up 200 each these pages will help you appear in organic searches to appear in google maps you'll need to set up a google my business location if you have legitimate addresses for your business and you can see how to do that in another video above my shoulder or this shoulder not for sure somewhere up here our client sits nicely at number one in organic search across a number of these cities including saint augusta st joseph sartell sauk rapids wade park saint cloud and kimball rankings continue to climb in the other cities but due to them being further away from their actual physical location it's harder to break in against competitors in those searches alright before we get into competitor searches a quick disclaimer when you're working on appearing for a competitor's name in search results make sure you're not doing anything illegal like slandering their name engaging in libel or doing any kind of lying or stealing in order to execute this strategy

you don't want to get in trouble so number two is how to rank higher in competitive searches now something else we've been doing for a while is building out competitor comparison pages to rank in searches for our competitor names now this is the same client a moving company they have a number of competitors that they compete with across central minnesota they've agreed to take the drastic action of trying to dominate google search results for their competitors names which might not be the best idea if you're an industry where you're friendly with your competitors also again you have to be careful to do it legally so what we did is we look over the competitor's website maybe even place a call if we need more information and create a thorough and fair comparison page of the competitor versus our client now you can see here that the competitor page is detailed and has various sections the competitor gets their logo credited and the description as well for us we're seeing results like this in our focus areas comparing appearances in search traffic from september to november of 2020 to the

same period in 2019 mover number one we are appearing in 118 searches versus zero before mover number two's name we're appearing in 70 searches in that period versus six before mover number three again 44 versus zero mover number four 138 searches versus zero before mover number five 171 searches versus four before movement number 688 searches versus 54 searches this mover's name had the regional city name in it as well and then mover number 755 searches versus zero searches so those are all new branding opportunities for this client as well as possibly new clients so when searching for competitors our client now appears in the number one two three or four slot in organic search when searching for our client's name no competitors appear at all giving us a distinct advantage if you want to try these strategies out yourself go right ahead if you want somebody to help you execute them and track them give us a call collab can help you out
